Turkeys can be an important part of the flock, they are always keeping an eye out and alert the other birds to trouble. Full grown toms can also intimidate small predators and hawks and are extremely protective of their flock including the chickens, ducks, and guineas.
Our beautiful narragansett turkeys are an eye catcher and have an excellent disposition. They will eat out of your hand and strut around all puffed up if you have a camera out. Adult females are extremely protective mothers and will go broody, make sure to provide them with a nice turkey size nesting box for them to lay in so they don’t feel the need to lay outside. They will even try to be mothers to other birds, like an adult female frizzle cochin.
